What it is
We see children from their first tooth. The aim of the early visits is simple: make the dentist a normal, even fun, place to be. We go at your child’s pace, explain with pictures, and never force anything.
What to expect
-
A first visit around age one or two is mostly a ride in the chair, a count of the teeth and a chat with you about brushing and diet.
-
From about age three, a gentle check and clean, with fluoride and fissure sealants when the adult molars arrive.
-
Parents are welcome in the room. Younger children often sit on a parent’s lap for the exam.
-
If treatment is ever needed, we explain it in words your child understands and use numbing gel, distraction and plenty of breaks.
Common questions
When should my child first see a dentist?
When the first tooth appears, or by their first birthday, whichever comes first. It is more about habits than treatment.
Are children’s visits covered by any scheme?
We accept the government child dental benefits scheme for eligible families, which covers check-ups, cleans, fillings and more with no out-of-pocket cost. Ask reception to check eligibility.
My child is terrified. What can you do?
Tell us in advance. We book a longer, no-treatment first visit, let them handle the tools, and build up slowly. Sofia, our oral health therapist, is very good at this.
