What it is
A regular check-up is the cheapest dentistry there is. We look for small problems while they are still small, remove the build-up a toothbrush cannot reach, and send you off with a clear idea of where things stand.
What to expect
-
A full examination of your teeth, gums, tongue and jaw, with photographs of anything we want to show you.
-
X-rays when they are due, usually every two years, taken digitally at a very low dose.
-
A scale and clean to remove tartar and staining, followed by a polish and a fluoride treatment.
-
Honest advice on brushing, flossing and anything we noticed, and a recall booked for when we next need to see you.
Common questions
How often should I come in?
Every six months for most people. If your gums are healthy and you rarely get decay, your dentist may suggest twelve months.
Does a clean hurt?
It should not. You may feel some sensitivity if you have gum recession or it has been a while. Tell us and we will slow down or numb the area.
Will my health fund cover it?
Most funds cover a check-up and clean under preventive limits, often with no gap. We can check your cover and claim on the spot.
