New patients

Welcome. Here is everything before you arrive.

What happens at a first visit, the form to fill in, what it costs and how to pay. If anything is not covered here, call and ask for Tom.

Your first visit

Three steps, about an hour

Nothing happens that you have not seen on the screen and agreed to first.

  1. Tell us about you

Fill in the new patient form online or on arrival. We ask about your health, medications and anything that worries you about the dentist.

    • Bring your health fund card and any recent x-rays if you have them.
    • Arrive ten minutes early for your first visit, or complete the form at home and bring it along.
    • Let us know if you are anxious. It changes how we run the appointment, not whether we can help.
  2. A thorough, unhurried check

Your dentist examines your teeth, gums and jaw, takes any x-rays that are needed, and talks you through what they see on the screen.

    • Digital x-rays use a very low dose and appear on the screen straight away.
    • We photograph anything we want to show you. Nothing gets decided without you seeing it first.
    • A professional clean usually happens in the same visit unless you ask otherwise.
  3. A plan in plain English

If anything needs doing, you leave with a written plan, item numbers and prices, and no pressure to decide on the spot.

    • Written treatment plans include item numbers so you can check your health fund rebate.
    • Nothing is urgent until we say it is. Most things can wait for you to think it over.
    • If everything looks healthy, we book your next check-up in six or twelve months.
Forms

Save ten minutes: fill in the form at home

The new patient form asks for your contact details, medical history, medications and anything you would like us to know. Print it, fill it in and bring it with you, or complete it on arrival.

Please bring

  • Health fund card, if you have one
  • A list of medications and allergies
  • Recent x-rays or a referral letter, if any
  • Your child’s details for the child dental benefits scheme, if eligible
  • Questions. Write them down; it is easy to forget in the chair.
Fees

A fee guide, not a mystery

Indicative prices for the most common things. Everything else is quoted in writing before we begin.

Treatment Price Notes
Check-up and clean $189 Exam, scale and clean, fluoride. Often fully covered by health fund preventive limits.
Dental x-rays $45 – $120 Small bitewing x-rays from $45. Full-mouth OPG $120.
Filling from $180 Tooth-coloured. Depends on size and position.
Teeth whitening from $390 Take-home kit from $390. In-chair from $650.
Emergency appointment from $120 Includes exam and x-ray. Treatment quoted before we start.

Prices are a guide only. Your dentist confirms the exact cost before any treatment begins, and you will always receive a written quote for anything over a check-up and clean. Each service page lists a starting price too.

Payment & health funds

Claim on the spot, pay over time

We accept all major health funds and can claim on the spot, so you only pay the gap. We are a preferred provider with several funds; bring your card and we will check your cover before you sit down.

Interest-free payment plans are available for treatment over $500, with no deposit on most plans. Ask at reception or when you receive your quote.

Questions

Things new patients ask

Do I need a referral?

No. Anyone can book directly, for a check-up or for a specific problem.

How long is a first appointment?

Allow an hour. That covers the paperwork, a full exam, x-rays if due, a clean and time to talk through anything we find.

What should I bring?

Your health fund card, a list of medications, any recent x-rays or referral letters, and the completed new patient form if you did it at home.

Can I transfer my records from my old dentist?

Yes. Sign a release at reception and we will request them, including x-rays, so we do not repeat anything unnecessarily.

I have not been to a dentist in years. Will I be judged?

No. It is one of the most common things we hear and it changes nothing about how we treat you. We start from where you are.

What if I cannot make it?

Please give us 24 hours’ notice so we can offer the time to someone else. We do not charge for a first missed appointment.

Accessibility

Getting in and getting comfortable

The practice is on the ground floor with a step-free entrance, an accessible toilet, and treatment rooms wide enough for a wheelchair to transfer from. Hearing loops are available at reception. Tell us about any needs when you book and we will plan the appointment around them.
